Australian airline criticised for pilot contracts

Pilots are meeting in Sydney on Monday to consider what action they can take to oppose the plans.

But Jetstar's Simon Westaway says the airline needs to be able to compete with other carriers flying in Asia.

"Well, how Jetstar operates and how most airlines around the world operate is that people that reside in a country enjoy the terms and conditions and arrangements of that country, he said.

"Singapore is a very attractive place to work; people are well remunerated, there's an excellent tax system, health care system and arrangements in place."
