Aircraft Cathay Pacific A330
Route Seoul to Hong Kong
Class Economy, seat 40A.
Seat configuration 2-4-2 with the new long haul product - seat reclines (actually the base moves forward) but doesn't impact the guest behind - amazing seat.
Luggage allowance Two pieces of checked baggage up to 20kg in total, plus one piece of cabin baggage up to 7kg.
Scheduled flight time 4 hours.
On-time performance Close to perfect gate departure, 20 minutes late arrival into Hong Kong due to de-icing.
Aircraft condition Seats impeccable, interior dated.
Console/entertainment Loads of current-release and other films, TV and radio programs and games. The feature movie "Wall Street" flickered 1 hour into the flight and failed to finish. Cabin crew tried to reset the in-flight entertainment system, but failed. A complaint form was given, filled out, but Cathay never responded.
Comfort As in all economy seats, you still feel like there's nowhere to put your legs but this seat is more comfortable than any other economy seat I've endured. There is a box under some seats which means you can not fully extend your legs if you have longer legs than a child.
Service Average - all cabin crew retreated to the rear of the aircraft to attend to a sick passenger - 12 attendants in total and abandoned this section of the aircraft for the majority of the rest of the flight. It took about 30 minutes to serve a requested drink after the inflight service had concluded. Cabin Crew took time to respond to the inflight entertainment issue due to a sick passenger.
Amenities At boarding a pouch of moist towelettes were provided, which was a nice surprise for a regional Asian flight.
Food and beverages The menu, with a choice of two dishes, sounded so much better than it tasted. A drink service was offered but with the time it takes you may be better purchasing a bottle of water in the terminal prior to departure.
Flight frequency Departures 5 times daily
