
Severe winter weather conditions throughout the country have forced Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to cancel 46 flights Thursday. Five were delayed.
The cancellations extend from through 11 p.m.
The airport announced 33 cancellations for arriving flights and one delay. These cities include Boston, Hartford, Long Island, Newark, New York JFK and LaGuardia, Philadelphia, Washington Dulles and DCA, and White Plains.
Thirteen inbound flights from the same areas were canceled and four were delayed.
Miami International Airport had eight departure cancellations and 23 cancelled arrivals as of Thursday morning.
On Wednesday, airports in Miami-Dade and Broward counted 68 canceled flights to and from affected areas.
Airlines alerted passengers that they could change their travel plans without the usual fee if they wanted to avoid the risk of delays or cancellations. American Airlines alone canceled at least 280 flights throughout the Northeast and was looking at a minimum of 65 cancellations Thursday.
