SpiceJet Climbs in Mumbai on $900 Million Aircraft Order, Quarterly Profit

SpiceJet Ltd., the Indian discount carrier part-owned by billionaire Kalanithi Maran, rose in Mumbai after saying it will spend $900 million on buying 30 Bombardier Inc. aircraft to more than double its fleet.

The shares climbed as much as 3.2 percent and changed hands at 89.85 rupees at 9:15 a.m. local time.

The airline also said it had a net income of 101.1 million rupees ($2.28 million) in the three months ended Sept. 30 compared with a loss of 1.01 billion rupees a year earlier, it said in a statement to Bombay Stock Exchange yesterday.
