Qantas budget airline Jetstar flags expansion

Qantas Airways Ltd (ASX:QAN) subsidiary Jetstar has flagged the possibility of further expanding in Singapore and New Zealand during 2011.

According to The Australian Jetstar’s chief executive David Hall says outbound tourism from Australia to New Zealand and Singapore was a “tremendous proposition” and that the airline could introduce triangulated flights between the three destinations.

Mr Hall says he expects opportunities in the region to grow.

Previously, Jetstar announced plans to introduce direct Auckland to Singapore in March.

For the year ended 30 June 2010, Qantas reported a net profit of $116 million.
