HONOLULU (AP) —
Hawaiian Airlines has ordered more Airbus planes, meaning it could potentially have as many as 31 of the European manufacturer's aircraft in its fleet.
The Honolulu-based carrier, whose parent company is Hawaiian Holdings Inc., said Monday it had exercised existing rights to purchase six Airbus A330 planes.
It also acquired the rights to buy four more A330 planes, pushing its total potential Airbus fleet size to 31.
The airline is currently flying three Airbus 330s, using them on Honolulu to Los Angeles and Honolulu to Las Vegas routes.
It's expected to fly some of the additional A330s to Manila, Seoul and Tokyo.
Before Monday, Hawaiian had submitted firm orders for six A330s and six A350s. It still has purchase rights to six A350 planes that it hasn't yet exercised.
