Cathay Pacific unveils new business class seats

The new passenger-designed seats, which will be featured in all A330 and B777 aircrafts, "aim to refine comfort, versatility and function," and claim to offer both privacy and openness.

Design innovations include a wing-back chair that maximises space, angled seats so you can see through the windows, and "infinitely adjustable seats" which converts into a bed.

They are almost five centimetres wider than the airline's old business class seats, with the beds measuring 10 centimetres longer and 8-10 centimetres wider than the current business class beds.

Each seat is equipped with a universal power supply outlet, a multi-port connector, an iPhone/iPod connector and a USB port, which can charge mobile phones.

There is also a personal widescreen TV and all the perks of the inflight entertainment system.

The business class cabins will also feature original artwork by Hong Kong artist Maria Lobo.

The first aircraft to feature the new business class seat will be an Airbus A330-300, which is planned to fly the Sydney route in March 2011. By February 2013, all of Cathay Pacific’s Boeing 777-300ER and long-haul A330-300s are expected to have the new seats.
