
MELBOURNE: The A380 has manufacturing defects in its Trent engines that could lead to "catastrophic engine failures" , Australian Flight Safety officials have warned. Officials said airlines flying A380s with Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines must carry out more checks. Meanwhile , Qantas said it had begun court proceedings to pursue legal action against Rolls-Royce if necessary. The airlines said it had "filed a statement of claim and been granted an injunction by the federal court of Australia which will ensure that the company can pursue legal action against Rolls-Royce in Australia".
