Qatar Airways to get Airbus A350 in 2013

DOHA: In a statement to the French Journal Le Parisian, Airbus manufacturer has said that the first model of the Airbus A350 XWB will be received by Qatar Airways by mid of 2013.

The Qatari carrier’s quota of 80 Model Aircraft represents 14.3 percent of the total order placed by 33 customers worldwide.

The technical specifications of the new model indicate that about 53 percent of the aircraft’s parts are made of material that reduce the weight of the plane and fuel consumption.

The acquisition of this type of planes would enable Qatar Airways to adapt to international developments in the aviation industry.

The purchase order by the Qatar Airways is part of a massive plan to purchase 80 Airbus A350, 24 Airbus A320, 60 Boeing 787 and 32 Boeing 777 in addition to other purchase orders for more than 220 new aircraft for more than $40bn.

Qatar Airways is among the first clients of the double-decked super jumbo Airbus A380 by purchasing five planes to be delivered in 2012.

Qatar Airways is now operating 72 planes to 85 cities around the globe and planning to operate more than 120 craft by 2013 and increase the destinations to more than 120 cities
