There are some airlines out there that charge a lot of fees, and then there are some that just do not. It now looks that the airlines that have been holding out from charging a lot of fees are now attacking other airlines that are charging fees to make themselves look good, and the truth of the matter is that it’s working.
Southwest Airlines has been running a very heavy dose of TV ads boasting that, unlike most airlines, they let passengers check two bags for free. This, of course, saves people a lot of money and is getting quite a lot of people to choose Southwest Airlines over other carriers.
However, Southwest Airlines, on Friday, did say it will launch a new TV ad that is designed to boost sales on its website. Some people may have seen this ad run during football Sunday all over the United States. This ad features singing and dancing employees in Chicago. This is a very important ad to Southwest Airlines, because its flights do not appear on online booking websites like Travelocity and Orbitz.
Southwest Airline did not stop there. They are currently looking for actors for commercials that will target airlines that charge customers up to $150 to change their itineraries. Southwest, of course, does not charge a fee for changing flights on a ticket.
Overall, it looks like Southwest is going to come out of the corner swinging. It is now time to sit back and see what the other airlines do. Of course, overall everyone is just waiting to see who will win this heavyweight fight.
